A cougar prowling a New Westminster neighbourhood on Halloween had to be killed because of the risk to the public, police say.
Police and a conservation officer were called to the Glenbrook area after the big cat was spotted Saturday night.
Officers found the animal just a few blocks from where it was first seen, near a wooded ravine.
New Westminster police described the decision to shoot the animal as a “sad ending,” but said it was necessary to protect the public.
