A 35-year-old man from Quebec's Eastern Townships is facing three counts of firstdegree murder in connection with the deaths of his mother and two young nieces. Pascal Morin was arrested Friday night after the bodies of his 70-year-old mother and two nieces, ages 8 and 11, were found inside a home about 150 kilometres south of Quebec City. Police discovered the bodies after a 911 call was placed Friday evening.
Moments after the gruesome discovery, officers found Morin on site and arrested him. The girls were reportedly the grandchildren of the town's mayor. The older victim is being identified as Ginette Roy Morin, the children's grandmother.
The girls' parents were not at the home when police arrived, police said. Quebec provincial police said Saturday that no firearms were involved. Autopsies will be performed to determine cause of death.
