Gallery: Top ten winter dates in Canada

As winter begins to set in, many single Canadians neglect their dating lives for a warm bed, a hot cup of tea, and a good book in the hopes that things will pick up again in the spring. But such doesn't have to be the case. Here's a guide to ten enchanting winter dates.

Just because it's icy outside, doesn’t mean your dating life has to be as well!

Just because it's icy outside, doesn’t mean your dating life has to be as well!
Hot chocolate date: This is a line you seldom hear: "Could I get your number so that I can take you out for a hot chocolate?" Usually, you hear the word 'drink' instead, implying an alcoholic drink of course. But let's be honest, even the finest of wines aren't as tasty as a hot chocolate. This winter, dare to be a little bold by being a little bit sweet.
Sleigh ride: No longer do we have to be pulled around on horse and carriage for transport. Nowadays, taking part in a sleigh ride is considered less of necessity and more of a romantic novelty. Don't believe us? Try it out for yourself next time you're in Montreal.
Bonhomme Carnaval: There is something just so romantic about being in the presence of a gigantic, mythical snowman, right? So, if you find yourself in la belle province, be sure to check out the Bonhomme Carnaval. Once the sun has set on the carnaval, dare to explore the Outdoor Dance Parties at the Ice Palace or grab a bite to eat at the fabled SAQ Bistro!
There are not many experiences more Canadian then looking out on a frozen tundra and seeing a polar bear emerge from the sundrenched horizon. If you find yourself in scenic Manitoba and you want to woo your date by coming face to face with a wild polar bear, then we suggest you take a peek at Churchhill Wild for more information.
Tobogganing is certainly not for the faint of heart and that's why it makes for such a great date. Between the adrenaline pumping through your body coupled with the fact that you have to squeeze your partner tightly while going down the hill, this date is bound to end in sparks. If you live in Toronto, be sure to check out Blog TO for the best hills in the city
Having dinner at the top of Mount Tremblant will make a great impression on your date. The only problem is that from there you can only go downhill. Literally, because you're on top of a mountain and to get any higher would just be absurd!
Snowshoeing: Want to see what your date is really made out of? If so, strap on a pair of snowshoes and hit the great outdoors for a mind-blowing cardio work out and perhaps a little snowshoeing as well. If you find yourself in Grouse mountain, you may even be able to squeeze in a little fondue afterwards.
Canal in Ottawa: Often times a first date can be excruciating. Between all the formal questions and the scrutiny, it can sometimes feel like a job interview. To avoid these awkward tête-à-têtes, lace up a pair of skates and glide across the Rideau canal as you chat. Trust us when we say, that outside a job interview that requires you to skate, this date won't feel like a job interview.
Ice hotel: It may be a little bit presumptuous to ask a first date to an ice hotel. But if you've been in a relationship for while and you find yourself in Quebec, this may prove to be the perfect way to inject a little romantic fantasy into your dating life.
Making a snow fort: Are you craving a little privacy from your roommate who always seems to be at home? If so, try constructing a snow fort on your next date. Working together as a team toward a common goal while being outside and enjoying Mother Nature makes for a date you won't soon forget. Best of all, this activity can be done anywhere in our fair land.
