A boat was destroyed by an overnight fire at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club.

Staff discovered the burning vessel when they arrived at work Tuesday morning and called the Oak Bay fire department.

The 6-metre fibreglass runabout was burned to the waterline by the time fire crews arrived. Damage is estimated at $7,500.

Neighbouring boats and the wharf were not damaged.

The fire remains under investigation, but does not appear to be suspicious.
