Saanich police are calling on the public to help identify the driver after a pedestrian was injured in a hit-and-run incident Sunday.
A Saanich woman was crossing Shelbourne Street toward the Home Depot outlet around 3:30 p.m. when struck by the driver of a silver Acura pulling out of the nearby Tim Hortons parking lot.
The woman landed on the hood of the vehicle before falling onto the street. The driver then sped off in the southbound lane.
The victim was taken to hospital by her boyfriend suffering from non-life threatening injuries, Const. Janis Carmena said.
Police are collecting surveillance videos from neighbouring businesses to help identify the driver. They also hope any witnesses will come forward to help the investigation.
“We think a few people witnessed it. It was a busy area,” Carmena said.
