An 85-year-old Oak Bay man is recovering after being struck in the same crosswalk where he was hit in November 2012.

Oak Bay police said the man was crossing Cadboro Bay Road near Thompson Avenue about 7 p.m. Thursday when a 75-year-old woman driving an SUV ran into him. The man was first thought to have serious injuries but was determined to have only cuts and bruises. He was kept in hospital overnight.

The vehicle was headed northbound on Cadboro Bay Road when the man was hit.

A light rain was falling at the time.

“It’s a dark crosswalk,” said Oak Bay Sgt. Ray Maxwell, with a light on the far side. Speed and alcohol are not considered factors, he said.

In the 2012 incident, the man was also taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
