Campbell River RCMP are investigating an RV fire in the Oyster River area that killed one person Monday.

Fire crews responded to calls around 5 p.m. of a person trapped in an RV on Lambeth Road, said Martin Thomas, deputy chief of the Oyster River Fire Department.

Crews arrived to find the RV fully engulfed in flames and no viable way to rescue the person inside, Thomas said.

They quickly extinguished the RV fire and found a person dead inside, he said.

It’s not yet known what caused the fire, but the incident is a reminder for those living in RVs to be careful when using any heater that is not part of the vehicle, Thomas said.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
