A driver in medical distress veered off the roadway and crashed into a vehicle parked in a driveway of a home in the 1400-block of Fairfield Road on Tuesday morning.

The driver of the Cadillac Escalade “suffered a medical event, which led to the collision” and was taken to hospital for treatment, said Victoria police spokesman Const. Cam MacIntyre.

“Thankfully no one else was injured,” he said.

The driver’s condition was not immediately known.

The crash happened just before 10 a.m. with the driver’s SUV hitting a parked Ford Escape and spinning it around. The southbound Cadillac then plowed through some plants and shrubs came to a rest in a recessed entrance to the home, against a concrete wall and metal fence.

The home was near the intersection of Fairfield Road and Kipling Street.

Firefighters removed a dog from the Cadillac and said it was not injured in the crash.
