An early-morning fire gutted a pickup truck in the Fernwood neighbourhood on Friday.

There were no injuries reported in the Denman Street fire, which occurred around 1 a.m.

Local 730 of the International Association of Firefighters said on social media the Victoria Fire Department’s Engine 1 found flames in both the cab and the truck bed of a white pickup parked on the side of the road.

The flames did not spread beyond the pickup, but the vehicle’s front tires exploded from the heat, the association said.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.

The union says Victoria firefighters have put out three vehicle fires in the past seven days.
