The South Vancouver Island Chapter of the Huntington Society of Canada: Is seeking a volunteer secretary. Primary responsibilities include assisting with fundraising event planning and drafting/sending correspondence. Flexible hours approximately five to 15 hours a month, one-year minimum commitment. Seniors Serving Seniors: Is seeking a volunteer technical person with the possibility of joining the Board. They would like support for social media networks, be able to provide a monthly summary report of website traffic through google, and have a monthly news banner on the site. Rest Haven Foundation: Exists to raise funds for medical equipment and special projects for Rest Haven Lodge in Sidney. Our members are passionate about increasing community awareness of palliative care. We are seeking volunteer board members. If you have experience in finance, legal, marketing, fundraising and policy creation, we want to hear from you. Please contact [email protected] for more information.

Point Ellice House: Is looking for volunteer gardeners and tour guides. We are a cherished historic Victorian treasure situated on the Gorge waterway, and volunteers help us to share its history and/or garden under direction and training of a master gardener and horticulturist. Tour guides will receive training and support. Volunteers are also needed to do power washing of lawn furniture, and/or to spray paint some of the wicker furniture. Volunteer Victoria Access Program: Volunteer Access at Volunteer Victoria is recruiting mental-health visiting and activity volunteers to assist residents living in mental-health group homes. Volunteers visit, go for walks, provide fitness programs or activities, or enjoy common interests in the community. Age 19-plus, six-month commitment, once a week. Volunteer Victoria: Is seeking an outgoing, friendly and organized volunteer who can join our volunteer front desk receptionist team. Commitment is one four-hour shift per week. Responsibilities include: answering a four-line phone system; greeting visitors office and providing information and direction as needed. For more information, contact George at [email protected] .

Habitat Acquisition Trust: Is hosting a restoration event at Ruby Creek, near Witty’s Lagoon, on May 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help remove invasive plant species as well as exploring the habitat of the Blue-Grey Taildropper Slug through an educational walk and talk. Tools, gloves, training and even lunch are provided. Meet at the Witty’s Lagoon parking lot and please RSVP to: [email protected]

Parks Canada: Invites experienced campers to volunteer as campground hosts at McDonald Campground (for a two-week minimum stay) between May 15 and Sept. 30. Share your local knowledge and help us welcome visitors to Gulf Islands National Park Reserve.
