A monthly series of culinary events in Victoria kicks off this weekend at Spinnakers Gastro Brewpub in Victoria West.

The goal of the Houseguest series, set for the third Sunday of each month, is to showcase culinary talent from communities around B.C. and the Pacific Northwest.

The series starts Sunday at Spinnakers with guest chef and author Lisa Ahier, who co-owns (with her husband, Artie) the popular SoBo restaurant in Tofino.

Tickets for the event are $60 in advance at Spinnakers and at leftcoasthouseguest.com. Ahier will be joined at the 7 p.m. sitting by Spinnakers chef Ali Ryan, who created the five-course menu and selected the wine and beer pairing choices for the night.

The Houseguest series is expected to run for 12 weeks. The next two instalments are indicative of the themes that will unfold during the series, according to organizers.

Bartender Jordan Felix, of Portland’s Multnomah Whiskey Library will join Shawn Soole at Olo Restaurant on May 17, while a Brewmasters’ Barbecue is set for The Guild Freehouse on June 21, with support from Category 12 Brewing (Victoria), Four Winds Brewing Company (Vancouver), and Hank’s Untraditional BBQ (Victoria).
