The reports offer interesting reading. But ignoring them might be better for your digestion.

I'm fascinated by bi bim bop, which is spelled many ways, but often this way. This Korean food website has a recipe and includes plenty of photos. You're supposed to mix up the ingredients of your bi bim bop before you eat it, which can be tough to do when the dish looks so nice.

The movie Julie and Julia is coming out in August. It's about the lives of Julia Child - who found hard-earned fame in the 1960s as the co-author of Mastering the Art of French Cooking - and Julie Powell, who cooked every one of the recipes in Mastering the Art, and blogged about it in emotional detail. Official movie website is built using unfriendly whiz-bang technology, so it might not work for you. Stars Meryl Streep and Amy Adams. Wikipedia has an entry about it.

Big-time chef Jacques Pépin - a great friend of Julia Child - recently made a series with PBS called More Fast Food My Way. He's wonderful on the show. There's a trove of videos here.

I especially like his brussels sprouts with bacon.
