Learn more about art history, see exhibits in context and delve deeper into themes at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria’s drop-in tour events. There are two drop-in tours this weekend.

On Saturday, the tour explores the exhibit Capturing the Inner Essence, which examines Chinese and Japanese portraiture. The exhibition include prints and paintings mainly from the 19th and 20th centuries. It runs from 2 to 3 p.m.

Sunday’s tour looks at the exhibit Emily Carr: On the Edge of Nowhere, which includes a historical survey of Carr’s career and how she was influenced by European, Group of Seven and First Nations artists. It examines Carr’s spirituality and connection to the West Coast landscape. The tour runs from 2 to 3 p.m.

Both tours are included with regular admission to the gallery, 1040 Moss St. For more information, go to aggv.ca.
