Sample fitness offerings at PISE open house

If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to get in shape, Sunday’s open house at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence couldn’t come at a better time. It will also be the kickoff for the Times Colonist Health Challenge.
If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to get in shape, Sunday’s open house at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence couldn’t come at a better time.

It will also be the kickoff for the Times Colonist Health Challenge.

“We are delighted to invite members of the community to experience a taste of our leading-edge fitness programs,” said Stacey Lund, acting program and facility director. “We are also excited to include the annual kick-off for the Times Colonist Health Challenge and help motivate participants to make healthy lifestyle changes in 2013.”

At the open house, you can sample many of PISE’s programs for free.

Classes run every 30 minutes, and include:

n High-intensity training program — short periods of intense anaerobic exercise with less intense recovery periods

n Bootcamp and Bootcamp Advanced — a combined aerobic and strength and conditioning session

n Super spin

n Adapted strength and conditioning

n Raise the bar

n Women on weights

n Superfit

n For young adults: Drive Junior, BLASTT for girls and boys (ages 12 to 15) and progressive tennis (ages six to 10).

The event is free and runs from 9 a.m. to noon at PISE, located at Camosun College’s Interurban Campus, 4371 Interurban Rd. You can also go online to register for programs.
