Fire Truck Parade a Langford tradition

Pedro Arrais / Times Colonist
December 12, 2012

Langford residents celebrate the eighth annual Christmas in the Park and the 15th annual Festival of Lights Fire Truck Parade on Sunday.

At 6 p.m., up to 26 brightly decorated fire trucks, police cars, ambulances and other emergency vehicles leave City Centre Park and take a 75-minute journey through the community before heading back to the park.

There, parade-goers can head inside Eagle Ridge Arena for a Christmas in the Park celebration that includes music, magical acts, craft-making, skating and hot chocolate. There will also be a visit from Santa — and the Grinch.

While the event is free, participants are encouraged to bring along a non-perishable food item for the food bank. The indoor event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. at the arena, 1089 Langford Parkway.

Judging of the parked vehicles begins at 5 p.m. in the park. For more information, go to westshore.bc.ca.
