n Thirty female artists will display their works at the café gallery of the Cedar Hill Recreation Centre in an art show to celebrate International Women’s Day, which is Friday.

The exhibit, titled Our Diversity Makes Us Stronger, is hosted by the Community Arts Council of Greater Victoria and runs from today until March 17.

The show includes works by Pat Martin Bates, Phyllis Serota and Joan McHardy.

“We want to create a collaborative visual representation of the positive power of women coming together in the Victoria area,” said Betty Meyers, an artist and one of the organizers of the exhibit. “We believe that the strength of women of all cultures, abilities and ages in Victoria can help to ignite social justice throughout the world.”

A reception Friday features Michelle Jacques, chief curator at the Victoria Art Gallery, as the keynote speaker.

Admission is free. The reception runs 7 to 9 p.m. in the café gallery of the Arts Centre at the Cedar Hill Recreation Centre. For more information, go to cacgv.ca.
