Take a hike in outdoor classroom

A pair of hikes in CRD parks this weekend promise to introduce participants to local natural and cultural history.

Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., hikers eight years old and older will tackle Horth Hill Regional Park in North Saanich. They'll discover native plants at the tip of the Saanich Peninsula and some of the birds that also share this natural oasis.

Wear sturdy hiking boots, and meet at the information kiosk in the parking lot off Tatlow Road.

Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. an adults-only hike has been organized at Sooke Potholes Regional Park in Sooke. Participants will hike along the river and learn natural and cultural history along the way. The return trip is along the Galloping Goose Trail.

Meet at the information kiosk in Parking lot 1.
