A car rear-ended a backhoe on Government Street near Chatham on Wednesday afternoon. Feb. 6, 2013.

A car is heavily damaged after rear-ending a backhoe on Government Street, near Chatham Street, on Wednesday afternoon.

The driver suffered minor injuries, Victoria police said.

The backhoe driver slowed down for traffic ahead of it, but the car apparently didn’t slow down. A police spokesman said it’s unclear whether the car was following too close or if the driver wasn’t paying enough attention to the traffic.
