A pair of tourism industry veterans have been honoured by Tourism Victoria for their work on behalf of the industry.

Mike Corrigan, the chief executive of Interferry and former head of B.C. Ferries, has been named the winner of Tourism Victoria’s 34th annual Miracle Award, and Brian Henry, owner of Ocean River Sports and a pioneer in the sea kayak industry, is the recipient of the 2017 Life Member Award.

“We are delighted to celebrate two deserving award recipients who represent partnerships that have played very important roles in the growth of Greater Victoria’s tourism industry,” said Tourism Victoria chief executive Paul Nursey.

Corrigan was cited as being key in B.C. Ferries becoming a true partner in tourism with initiatives such as increasing levels of service and amenities, to experimenting with flexible off-peak pricing.

Henry was honoured for a long career dedicated to getting people outdoors and in pioneering the adventure tourism sector.
