A sea of local technology executives will strip down and jump into the frigid harbour Thursday as part of the annual Victoria Advanced Technology Centre’s Food Bank Challenge to benefit the Mustard Seed.

The tailored suits of executives from Contech Enterprises, Starfish Medical, Vigil Health and Telus will be replaced with trunks as they hit the waters near Fisherman’s Wharf at noon.

The executives raised pledge money both inside their companies and from the public, with everyone wanting to see them get wet.

The VIATeC Food Bank Challenge, which started in 2002 and has so far raised more than $1.5 million for the Mustard Seed, is an annual competition among the high-tech firms to see who can raise the most money and food. Last year more than $87,000 was raised and more than 3,400 pounds of food were delivered to the Mustard Seed.
