COLONSAY, Sask. - A roof collapsed at Mosaic's potash mine in Colonsay, Sask.
It happened Monday in the thickener building where clay is separated from the salty solution known as brine.
Brad Delorey, director of public affairs for Mosaic, says the building is a very low traffic area.
He says no one was in the building at the time.
Delorey says it's not clear what caused the roof to collapse, but an investigation will start shortly.
Colonsay is 65 kilometres southeast of Saskatoon.
"The Mine Safety Branch has been notified, so a full investigation will occur which will start, I'm assuming, as soon as they can be there," Delorey said.
Two weeks ago, more than 300 miners were trapped underground for most of the day at Mosaic's potash mine in Esterhazy, Sask., when a fire broke out at the K2 facility.
They rushed to refuge stations to wait until the fire had been extinguished and the smoke cleared.
A piece of mobile mining equipment was the cause of the fire.
