TORONTO - Computer maker Dell has appointed Kevin Peesker, who has been with the company since 2003, as president of Dell Canada Inc., effective Feb. 4.

Peesker will be responsible for continuing for Dell’s commercial business in Canada, Dell said Friday in a news release.

He was most recently general manager for Dell's consumer and small business customer segments in Europe.

Media reports this week said Microsoft has joined the negotiations to buy struggling Dell.

Both CNBC and the Wall Street Journal have reported that Microsoft Corp. may invest some of the money needed to take Dell Inc. private after 25 years as a publicly traded company.
