On the Street: Nanaimo agent new president of B.C. Real Estate Association

Nanaimo real estate agent Jim Stewart is the new president of the B.C. Real Estate Association. Stewart, who is with 460 Realty, has been licensed for more than 24 years. He served as president of the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board in 2011.

Stromar to lead Island group

 

Janice Stromar is the new president at the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board, taking over from Margo Hoffman. Don McClintock from RE/MAX of Duncan is serving as president-elect for 2017. Sandy Rantz, Kaye Broens, Marty Douglas, and Mark Clark returned to the board. Newcomers are Lovina Miller from DFH Real Estate Ltd. in the Cowichan Valley, Kevin Reid from Royal LePage Comox Valley in Courtenay and Erika Haley from RE/MAX Check Realty in Campbell River.

 

New Lantzville CAO

 

Ronald Campbell has been hired as the new chief administrative officer of Lantzville, north of Nanaimo, starting April 10. He began his career more than 30 years ago working with local government in Alberta.

 

Photographer honoured

 

Victoria professional photographer Frances Litman was a finalist in the 2017 World Photographic Cup for Team Canada. She entered a black-and-white image, “Heading Into the Rain.” The overall winner was Portugal.

 

New executive for lapidary group

 

The Victoria Lapidary and Mineral Society has elected a new executive. Vanessa Steffens is the president; vice-president is Mike Hill, treasurer is Greg Shea and secretary is Allana Shillito. Will Wilson, Nick Aktarian and Dave Mullet will join David Jackson as members at large.

 

Lifetime honour for accountant

 

Victoria’s Bob Strachan has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia. He is principal of Bob Strachan & Associates. Before founding his firm in 2013, he held management positions as an accountant with the Capital Regional District from 1986 to 2013. Previously, he held roles with the Vancouver Island Health Authority and the province.

 

New reel deal

 

Peetz Outdoors Limited, which has been making fishing reels, rods and tackle in Victoria for more than 90 years, has partnered with Duncanby Fishing Lodge in Rivers Inlet for a customized artist series of reels.
