On the Street: Financial firm grows in Langford

Exceptional Wealth Management, a financial planning firm, is moving its headquarters into a larger office at 111-785 Station Rd. in Langford. After three years in the space next door, Barb Finnerty said the added room was needed to accommodate a growing workforce. Finnerty is the founder of Exceptional Wealth Management Canada and an investment funds adviser with Manulife Securities Investment Services Inc. An open house is being held June 26 from 2 to 6 p.m. with burgers, hot dogs, refreshments and cake. Donations will also be accepted for the Mustard Seed Food Bank.

Hotel consultant adds new partner

 

Jennifer Etherington has joined Anticipate Hospitality as partner and head of the firm’s revenue management consulting practice. She has more than 30 years in hospitality and tourism management and has worked with leading hotel properties and management groups such as OPUS Vancouver, Trilogy Pacific and Metropolitan Hotels. Anticipate Hospitality is a full-service consulting firm with offices in Victoria and Vancouver.

 

New manager

for Oak Bay spa

 

Kalsang (Kelly) Chodon has been hired as spa manager for the Boathouse Spa & Baths at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, bringing more than 12 years of hotel spa management experience. Chodon joins Oak Bay Beach from the Willow Stream Spa at The Fairmont Banff Springs, where she was the spa groups and sales manager. At the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, Chodon will oversee a team of 20 staff, including a registered massage therapist, spa therapists, spa co-ordinator and attendants. Chodon has previously held positions with The Raffles Parslin Seychelles; Taj Excotica Resort & Spa, Maldives; Taj Mauritius, Jiva Grande; The Oriental Bangkok; and The Oberoi Rajvilas, Jaipur.

 

Ex-TV reporter joins sports teams

 

Mira Laurence, former CTV News sports and lifestyles reporter, has joined the Victoria HarbourCats baseball team and the Victoria Grizzlies of the B.C. Hockey League to handle community relations and marketing. The HarbourCats have also added Laurence to the team’s community advisory board.

ChoirKids is a non-profit that provides a free choral music program for children ... The West Coast College of Massage Therapy has moved to 100-818 Broughton St. The college has been operating for 15 years and is the first massage therapy college in Canada to achieve agreements with universities allowing graduates to receive transfer credits to complete bachelor of science degrees.
