Retailers open new Duncan liquor store
Ryan and Kim Smith, former owners of the Lululemon Athletica franchise in downtown Victoria, have opened the Cowichan Liquor Store at Duncan’s Crossroads Centre, 4485 Trans Canada Hwy. The Smiths acquired the liquor licence from the Oceanfront Suites at Cowichan Bay in July and recently completed the relocation process. “We are really excited about the opportunity and are looking forward to getting back into retail after taking a short break,” said Ryan Smith. The Smiths opened the Lululemon franchise in 2002 and later an OQOQO store, both on Johnson Street in Victoria, before selling their franchises in 2008. The focus of their new store is Cowichan Valley wines and craft beer, cider and spirits from the Island. It’s open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, including weekends and holidays.
