On the Street: Craigdarroch Castle elects new board members

Paula Carey and Cheryl Hebb have been elected to the board of the Craigdarroch Castle Historical Museum Society. The Craigdarroch Castle membership also re-elected Amy Hinrichs and Cameron Glazier to their second three-year terms.

Paula Carey and Cheryl Hebb have been elected to the board of the Craigdarroch Castle Historical Museum Society. The Craigdarroch Castle membership also re-elected Amy Hinrichs and Cameron Glazier to their second three-year terms. Carey has a degree from University of Toronto and a 20-year career in industry and government. Hebb is director of fund development at the University of Victoria. Carl Wilkinson and Nick Weymess retired from the board. Others on the board include Stephen Lyons, Moira Dann, Maureen Abraham, Barbara Armstrong, Lorne Beally, Astrid Braunschmidt and Barri Marlatt.

New team members for V2V ferry

V2V Vacations, sailing into its second year of providing a ferry service between Vancouver and Victoria, has announced a new leadership team. General manager Julian Wright promoted Bryden Smith to vice-president of operations and senior master, responsible for the operation of the 242-passenger V2V Empress ferry. Smith manages the crew, training, regulatory bodies and safety-management systems. A Victoria native, Smith brings more than a decade of experience in B.C. coastal ferry service, including years of service as the captain of luxury expedition ships. New to the team is Brigitte Diem-Guy, appointed vice-president sales and marketing. She was previously vice-president of sales and marketing for one of Canada’s leading hotel management companies. Mieka Robertson’s role is expanded to include director of finance, IT and administration. Stewart Turnbull remains terminal manager and David Payne has been appointed technical superintendent. Payne spent six years with V2V’s parent company, Riverside Marine Fleet, in Australia.

On the move

Sue Connors now heads up Bid Central, B.C.’s largest construction bidding marketplace, headquartered in Victoria within the B.C. Construction Association. Connors comes from Revenue Wire, where she was vice-president of business development.

Art society adds acting managers

The Open Space Arts Society has appointed Lindsay Delaronde as acting Aboriginal curator of its artist-run centre. Delaronde was born and raised on the Kahnawake reserve and has been a professional artist for the past five years. Delaronde holds a bachelor of fine arts degree from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design and a master’s from the University of Victoria. She is currently the City of Victoria’s Indigenous Artist in Residence. Raj Sen was also named acting executive director for a one-year term. Sen has spent the past five years working in the international contemporary art world, most recently as director of the Singapore branch of Sundaram Tagore Gallery. He has worked as a project manager for exhibitions at Bangkok Arts and the Ayala Museum in Manila. Open Space is an artist-run contemporary arts centre at 510 Fort St.

Hamilton joins sports hall of fame

Clint Hamilton, director of athletics and recreation at the University of Victoria, has joined the Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame board of directors. The other board members include Robert Hope, Rick Leggett, Chris Graham, Tom Turnbull, Dave Erb, Lois Smith, Robert Bettauer, Cal Mackay, Fern Johnson, Louise Hodgson-Jones, Jim Swanson and Stacie Louttit.
