On the Street: Cascadia Liquor adds manager

He previously owned and operated a restaurant in the Rocky Mountains and has more than 25 years’ experience in the hospitality industry. In 2012, Pott achieved Sommelier Diplomat status from the International Sommelier Guild. He is pursuing a Cicerone Certification for craft beer. 

Graduate returns to Pearson College

Heather Gross has been appointed chief academic officer and vice-president of education and programming for Pearson College UWC in Metchosin. Gross graduated from Pearson in 1995, returning to the international school 12 years later to lead student admissions and counselling. As CAO, she will manage and develop the delivery of curricular and co-curricular programming; learning through study, service and experience; and living together on campus in a cross-cultural setting.

Digital specialist joins Suburbia

Suburbia Studios, a marketing agency based in Victoria and Vancouver, said Jo-Ann Kevala has joined the firm in the newly created role as vice-president of digital strategy and innovation. Prior to Suburbia, Kevala spent nearly a decade at Unit4, a global software company. Kevala’s background in tech marketing has also involved senior positions at IVL Audio, Schneider Electric and FunctionFox.com

New executive for Gallery Associates

The Gallery Associates of the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria named its new executive — president Donna Jones, first vice-president Carol-Anne Harper, second vice-president Wendy Lovitt Warren, secretary Louise Klassen, treasurer Marcia Shillington, membership director Karen Ayers, program director Yvonne MacKenzie and past president Pieta VanDyke. The Gallery Associates have been operating for 65 years and volunteer, promote and support the gallery through fundraising events and programs.

Craigdarroch Castle elects board members

Barbara Armstrong was elected to the board of the Craigdarroch Castle Historical Museum Society at its recent AGM. The membership also re-elected Peter Van Geisen and Stephen Lyons to their second three-year terms.

Armstrong is a financial adviser with a 30-year history leading fundraising initiatives in the not-for-profit sector. Van Geisen is CEO of Novaport Management Services Inc., and Lyons is a lawyer with Stevenson, Luchies and Legh. Jennifer Oakes retired from the board, which also includes Carl Wilkinson, Nicholas Wemyss, Barri A. Marlatt, Moira Dann, Astrid Braunschmidt, Cameron Glazier, Amy Hinrichs and Lorne Beally.
