Tilray, the large-scale medical marijuana producer that set up at Nanaimo’s Duke Point, is growing again. The company is holding a job fair on Monday and Tuesday, saying it plans to puff up its workforce from 85 to about 130.

Tilray is looking for horticulturists, customer service representatives, processing personnel for trimming, packaging and shipping, facilities maintenance personnel and a social media community manager

The company said people interested in attending the job fair need to e-mail their resume to jobs@tilray.ca to receive details about participating. Additional details are available on Tilray’s Careers page: www.tilray.ca/en/Home/Careers

Tilray said it has invested $20 million in developing a facility at Duke Point where it grows, processes and distributes cannabis under license from Health Canada. The company said it currently has more than 40 different strains of cannabis in cultivation in its 60,000 square foot facility. The company has provided medical cannabis to patients across Canada since opening on April 28. Tilray is owned by Privateer Holdings, which is based in Seattle, but Tilray is headquartered in Nanaimo.

Another large-scale marijuana producer is setting its sights on the Nanaimo area.

Late last month, Vancouver-based Wildflower Marijuana Inc. has two Health Canada license applications in the works for separate sites at Yellow Point and Nanoose Bay.
