NANAIMO — The search for a new chief executive officer for the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce has been extended to Friday to give the business group time to sort through applications from across the continent.
The chamber is seeking a replacement for ex-CEO Susan Allen, who left the organization in August to take a management job at Vancouver Island University. Chamber director Kim Smythe has acted as interim CEO.
Chamber board chairman Odai Sirri said the organization has received “strong feedback” for the job opening, but said his team needs time to review the field of candidates and press on with upcoming programs and events.
“We had applicants in California, New Jersey, Vermont, Saskatchewan, Alberta and Vancouver, so it’s been a pretty solid response,” he said.
