Lowe’s Canada will start renovating its Langford Rona Home Store on June 5 to covert it to the Lowe’s banner.

Work is expected to be finished by the fall, a company statement said Monday. The 16-week project includes construction, new racks, re-merchandising, branding, and information technology conversion.

Staff at the 850 Langford Parkway store will be trained to work under the Lowe’s name.

Lowe’s also has a store in the Tillicum shopping centre.

U.S.- based Lowe’s Companies Inc. finalized its $3.2 billion purchase of Rona Inc. in May 2016.

This acquisition saw Lowe’s acquire 500 Rona outlets. Lowe’s already had some stores in Canada. Lowe’s Canadian business now operates or services just over 600 corporate or independent affiliate dealer stores in Canada. These include Lowe’s, Rona, Marcil Dick’s Lumber and Ace.

The Langford Rona store originally opened in 2006.

Lowe’s has hired additional staff. That store will have more than 130 permanent jobs and about 30 seasonal positions, the company said.
