A well-known Victoria construction family is leading a charge to raise $5 million over the next 10 months to buy the most modern tools and technologies to equip the new Trades Education and Innovation Complex at Camosun College.

Murray and Lynda Farmer are co-chairs of a 24-member campaign cabinet made up of respected leaders from all sectors of community, business and industry for the largest capital program in the Camosun Foundation’s history — the TRADEmark of Excellence Campaign.

The $35-million trades complex is expected to be complete and fully equipped for students and faculty in fall 2015.

Murray Farmer said he was supporting the project “because of my involvement in construction and the great skilled tradespeople I’ve had the privilege of working with over the years. We also know how critically important education and technical training will be to our province going forward.”

“Camosun College teaches real skills for real jobs and provides a learning environment like none other,” Lynda Farmer said. “Students are supported in reaching their full potential. And by transforming their lives, our economies and communities prosper. The creation of a new trades training centre presents a profound opportunity for Camosun and our province.”
