The list of the region's tallest buildings is going to change over the next two years.
With soil being turned at both Bayview Place, home of the 21-storey Promontory building, and at Colwood Corners, where two 26-storey towers will be centrepieces of Capital City Centre, the region's top-five list will get a bit of a shakeup.
The Promontory will eventually measure 68 metres and be the tallest building in Greater Victoria when completed in two years, taking top spot from the 22-storey Orchard House in James Bay, now 62 metres, according to the City of Victoria. The 11-storey, 60-metre Sussex Place is taller than Orchard House if its spire is included. But the city considers height to be determined by the top of the highest roof parapet level.
League Financial Partners, the group behind Capital City Centre, will start construction of the first 26-storey tower on its site following the construction of a four-storey residential building, three retail buildings and a six-storey office tower.
1. Orchard House, 62m, 22 storeys
2. Sussex Place, 60m, 11 storeys
3. Roberts House, 59m, 21 storeys
4. Executive House, 55m, 19 storeys
5. View Towers, 55m, 19 storeys
