Two boaters were plucked from the water Saturday afternoon after their vessel sank near Sidney.

The pair were in a 15-foot open boat about 500 metres from shore between the Port of Sidney and Roberts Point. A 911 came in about noon when the boat started to sink, said the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre. A volunteer coast guard boat from Ganges was called to attend.

The passengers of the sinking vessel were wearing life-jackets and were only in the water about five minutes before a nearby Zodiac rescued them.
