Victoria police are investigating after a baby died in the McDonald’s restaurant at Douglas and View streets Saturday morning.

Victoria firefighters, police officers and B.C. Ambulance paramedics attended the restaurant. It is not clear what caused the baby to go into medical distress.

Police were tight-lipped on the incident Saturday night and would not say if they considered the death suspicious. “Detectives are still looking at it,” said Victoria police watch commander Staff Sgt. Darren Laur. Police did not disclose the age of the baby nor details about who had been caring for the baby.
