MV Tachek went back into the water Friday after a $20-million refit and life-extension project that began in December at Point Hope Maritime in Vic West.

The B.C. Ferries vessel is expected to return to service on the Quadra Island-Cortes Island route at the end of November.

Work carried out includes installing fire and safety Systems, mechanical, electrical and navigation systems, as well as a new paint job.
