Holders of liquor licences in B.C. have been given more flexibility as of Thursday to stage live events.
The change in rules is effective immediately and is aimed at giving licence holders more options in the type of entertainment they are offering.
“The change allows licence holders to screen films and broadcast pay-per-view programs outside the hours outlined in their liquor licence. Licence holders will still not be permitted to serve liquor during the screening of movies,” a government release said.
“Licence holders will have the ability to choose the days of the week and hours of the day they wish to have liquor service, and are free to screen films or broadcasts on the other days and times of the week.”
When the days and hours of liquor service have been approved by B.C.’s liquor control and licensing branch, the holders of the licences can then ask for temporary changes to their liquor service hours.
