In a bombshell disclosure in August 2008, former presidential hopeful John Edwards admitted to having an affair with Rielle Hunter. Earlier this year, the one-time Democratic Party star admitted for the first time that he also fathered a child during his White House run, as his wife, Elizabeth, battled cancer. The couple announced they had separated in late January. Elizabeth Edwards said she was 'disgusted' by Hunter's racy photoshoot and controversial interview in the latest issue of GQ magazine.
Sandra Bullock (right) abruptly pulled out of the London premiere of The Blind Side  as news broke that her husband, Jesse James, had cheated on her. A tattoo model by the name of "Bombshell" McGee (left) said she had an eleven-month affair with Bullock's husband while the actress was filming The Blind Side. Bullock won a Golden Globe and an Oscar for her performance in The Blind Side. On both occasions, she tearfully thanked her husband. She is now seeking a divorce.
Kobe Bryant made a public apology to his wife, Vanessa, in the midst of a scandal involving allegations of sexual assault in 2003. The NBA superstar said the encounter he had with a 19-year old hotel employee in Colorado was consensual. The charges against him were dropped.
Eliot Spitzer resigned as Governor of New York in 2009 after it was revealed that he patronized a high-priced prostitution service and met with a $1,000-an-hour call girl going by the name of Ashley Alexandra Dupré. Spitzer kept a low profile following the scandal and his marriage remains intact. Spitzer now has a gif with CNN, while Dupré now has an advice column in the New York Post.
When Jude Law starred in the movie 'What it's all about Alfie?' it seemed to be a parable for his own life. His marriage to Sadie Frost ended when he became involved with Sienna Miller. In turn, his relationship with Miller went haywire when he was caught cheating on her with the nanny to his three children. For her part, Frost said it was only a matter of time before herstrayed after infidelity ended their marraige.
Canadian film director James Cameron has been married five times. He paid an estimated $50 million — half of what he earned for 'Titanic' — to settle his divorce from Linda Hamilton. He directed Hamilton in the first two Terminator films before the couple called it quits.  Both Cameron (right) and his third wife, Kathryn Bigelow (left), (The Hurt Locker) were nominated in the best director category at this year's Academy Awards. She won.
Supermodel Elizabeth Hurley made a media splash when she accompanied boyfriend Hugh Grant to the London premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral wearing a plunging black Versace dress held together with gold safety pins. Months later, Grant became embroiled in an international sex scandal after police found him in his car, engaging in a sex act with a Hollywood prostitute. Hurley and Grant remained together for several years after the incident.
Who tested the waters first? There was much speculation it was Nicole Kidman who cheated on Tom Cruise when their relationships hit the skids. Others believe Cruise strayed during the filming of Vanilla Sky when he met Penelope Cruz. After all, didn't the two spend the next three year together? About the only point of agreement is that cheating brought the 10-year union between Kidman and Cruise to a screeching, bitter halt.
Halle Barre's talent has won her numerous honours including a coveted best actress Academy Award in 2001 for Monster's Ball. Her breathtaking beauty landed her role as Bond girl Giacinta 'Jinx' Johnson in the blockbuster Die Another Day. Even though it seemed she had everything and was one of Hollywood's hottest name, the interior of her world was crumbling. Her husband, singer Eric Benet, was a serial cheater. Their divorce was finalized in January  2005.
Actor Harrison Ford paid an estimated $85 million to his second wife, screenwriter Melissa Mathison. She reportedly negotiated a piece of his future earnings from films made while they were married. His body of work includes such mega hits as Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Ford recently exchanged wedding vows with actress Calista Flockhart.
Robyn Moore filed for divorce from Mel Gibson after 28 years and seven children.  His relationship with Russian singer Oksana Grigorieva – the ex-partner of former James Bond star Timothy Dalton – appeared to be the cause of the split. Gibson has said he separated from his wife several years before he met Grigorieva. He became a father for the eighth time late last year with his Russian love. The relationship recently ended.
Beatle Paul McCartney and Heather Mills have one of the messiest divorces on the record. McCartney married the former model in 2002, four years after his first wife Linda died of breast cancer. The judge in their divorce proceedings chided Mills for giving 'inconsistent and inaccurate' evidence and ordered McCartney to pay her $48.7 million. While the settlement was only a fifth of the sum she had sought, it still gave her the equivalent of about $34,000 for each day of her four-year marriage to the pop icon.
Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones (left) is rumored to have an infidelity clause in her prenup with Michael Douglas. The couple married in 2000 and have two children. Douglas and his first wife Diandra hammered out an estimated $45 settlement when they divorced. Douglas has denied claims that he entered rehab for sex addiction in late 90s.
Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg's first marriage, to actress Amy Irving, ended in 1989 with his wife walking away with about $100 million. Forbes magazine said Irving won that settlement after successfully contesting their prenuptial agreement, reportedly scribbled on a napkin. Spielberg shares custody with their son, Max. He is now married to actress Kate Capshaw and their household includes seven children.
Basketball great Michael Jordan became a legend in his own time playing for the Chicago Bulls. Signs of trouble started to show up on the home court when Jordan and his wife, Juanita, filed for divorce in 2002. They got back together a month later but the 17-year union that produced three children eventually came to an end. The couple 'amicably' negotiated a divorce settlement in 2006 in what has been called the largest celebrity divorce settlement on record. The amount? A cool $168 million.
Screen star Kevin Costner paid an estimated $80 million to his first wife Cindy Silva as a divorce settlement.  Their 16-year marriage spanned his peak earning years and produced three children. Rachel Uchitel has been called Tiger Wood's No. 1 mistress. As the scandal was gaining momentum and the number of mistresses link to the golfer increased almost by the day, Uchitel arrived in Los Angeles to meet with high-profile lawyer Gloria Allred. TMZ is reporting that Allred negotiated a confidentiality agreement for Uchitel to the tune of $10 million — give or take $1 million.
Britney Spears was once famous for saying she would remain a virgin until she became married. That was before the pop diva started going out with Justin Timberlake. So, what brought their three-year relationship to an end? In an interview with Barbara Walters, Timberlake implied that he broke up with Spears because she was unfaithful.
South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford (shown here with his wife Jenny) declared that his Argentine mistress, Maria Belen Chapur, was his soulmate when his affair was exposed last summer.  He also said that he was  committed to reconciling with his wife in hopes of saving his family. Jenny told Vogue that the affair was like "punches to the gut". She has opted for divorce.

The affair between LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian reportedly started on the set of “Northern Lights”.  Rimes and Cibrian have both ended their respective marriages and were recently photographed in public being openly affectionate for the first time.
Denise Richards raised eyebrows when it was revealed she was intimately involved with Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora after she separated from Charlie Sheen in 2006. The news came before Sambora's divorce from Heather Locklear was finalized and ended what was once considered a close friendship between the two women.

Lance Armstrong married his his long-time love Kristin Richard in May 1998. They had three children together before filing for divorce at about the same time he began dating singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow in 2003. Armstrong and Crow both moved on to other relationships.

One-time soccer great David Beckham has denied cheating on his wife Victoria. Claims surfaced several years ago when he was based in Madrid that he was having an affair with his personal assistant Rebecca Loos. The model and singer has since appeared in several reality television shows.
