LOS ANGELES — It seems James Cameron, director of the visually stunning 3D film Avatar, was all out of Christmas cheer Dec. 23, calling an autograph seeker a "f--king a--hole," reports TMZ.com.

The incident, which happened at Los Angeles International Airport, started when a man, holding an Avatar poster, followed Cameron asking him to sign the item.

After Cameron declined, the man asked again, eliciting an angry response from the Canadian-born director.

"I don't owe you a f--king signature . . . just get out of my f--king personal space."

The fan blew up, yelling at Cameron.

"I'm an a--hole because I ask someone I admire for their autograph that makes me an a--hole? I make $15-an-hour at work to go see your film and I'm an a--hole?"

The man then told Cameron, who has directed the blockbuster hits Titanic, and Terminator 2, the plot of his movie was "garbage."

"The plot is so simple a three-year-old could follow it. Make a real movie."
